UNIQUE CENTER FOR FISHERIES AND PROTECTION OF WATERS ---
"South Bohemian Research Center of Aquaculture and Biodiversity of Hydrocenoses" (CENAQUA)
The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, namely the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters and the Institute of Physical Biology experienced significant success when they were supported for their activity in science and research by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the CR by providing a grant to a project “South Bohemian Research Center of Aquaculture and Biodiversity of Hydrocenoses“. This project will be financed under the Operational program for Research and Development for innovation of Ministry of Education, 2nd priority axis for building of R&D centers with implementation date 1st August 2010 to 31st December 2013. A construction of three buildings of the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters will be realized through the investment funds. The construction work will take place in the period from spring 2011 to the beginning of 2013. The buildings will be provided with unique equipment and instrumentation enabling implementation of cutting-edge research and creating stimulation conditions for perspective researchers.
The region of the South Bohemia has a long tradition in fish farming, using 25 000 ha of water areas for fish breeding, which represents half the production in the Czech Republic.
The aim of the project is building a cutting-edge Regional R&D center with international reach, particularly in Central Europe. As implied from the title of the project, the center will be specialized in the field of aquaculture and biodiversity of hydrocenoses and focused on strengthening basic, applied and technological research in fish industry including education.
